Need a question answered FAST.....in the middle of placing an order.

By upgrading the bar/sleeve to the ZJ thick solid bar, you are eliminating one TRE. Can someone confirm the TRE eliminated is Moog ES3095R? IS this the passenger side TRE?

Answered my own question.....checked moog-suspension-parts.com and confirmed that with the ZJ upgrade, you can eliminate the ES3095R part from your order as its on the bar already.

FYI for anyone else that needed this confirmation.

 

Great post. I am looking into this upgrade as well. Is there any kind of similar upgrade for the drag link?

(for those not familiar it's the the bar that runs from the pitman arm on the steering box to the passenger side spindle... the tie rod connects to it as well over on the passenger side)

My tie rods are toast and I really did not wanna get the same stuff again and didint wanna spend a whole lot on a upgrade.

 

I wouldn't hit a dog in the a$$ with any of the zone's chassis parts. I used to work there. moog, Trw or rockhill for the cheap stuff. But moog is by far the best.

 

The ES3095R was never mentioned in the OP. It was never meant to be orderd as the new ZJ rod is the rod and the end itself. But awsome you pointed that out.

 

Anyone here who already did the swap notice any difference in steering. Is the steering wheel more responsive? Im looking to the swap but wondering if it gets rid of some slop i have in the steering wheel.

 

No more responsive, but if you have worn out stuff it will tighten it up some. Unless of corse your slop is in the steering box. It's a way better stronger setup and real easy to do. Did it to a buddies jeep and I will be doing it to mine soon.

 

Ok, I'm probably be redundant or just stupid, but I understand you don't need the ZJ drag link. Do you need the ZJ tie rod ends or the adjustment sleeve? Or if I was going to the JY, would all I need is the tie rod?

Did u keep the stock drag link or did u upgrade as will cuz ill lookin to get the same upgrade but I want to buy it online at rustysoffroad.com but im lookin at almost 300 bucks for it. Also r all the tie rods be replaced or is it like the stock one that u have to replace the whole tie rod for the passenger side

 

That's the cost effective way of doing it,makes no sense to buy a new Zj rod at a parts store.If your gonna spend that money for a new one buy a Ironrock or another aftermarket tie rod for 70 to 90 dollars

 

I'm all for saving some green as I waited almodt 4 months to finally fix all the TRE's and BJ's.......but why would you get a TRE from a junkyard? Might as well get an Autozone one for cheap and ride it out till it gives up. At least its new.

All my suspension components had 130K miles on them, so they are ready for replacement. I found the Moog ZJ tie rod on Amazone for $55 shipped. Well worth the money over a used component.

 

Oh....an let me help the XJ owners looking to do a full overhaul like I am doing. Here's the parts list (with ZJ upgrade parts):

Great idea to replace the tres for sure. Im just saying if your gonna buy a new tie Rod why not buy something beefier than stock zj stuff
