DS1310 for the V8 ZJ and DS1238 for the XJ. As far as I can tell the DS1310 is 0.65" longer than DS1238.

Might change on year, those P/Ns I looked up at RA and Moog's website for a 98 ZJ with 5.2L and 99 XJ with 4.0L

lol, seeing the same thread I looked at years ago around when I did this and still people asking questions.

Its so simple. I paid like $15 for one from the jy, went around and felt for best one, new boot and new short end. Had no problems installing or since. I am only using moog chassis parts on my jeep now, rock auto is best place by far for big orders.

Everyone starts somewhere. I read the most basic threads before I did anything when I was younger and just getting started.

Its seriously SOOO Simple. I don't understand how anyone could still have questionS.
Step 1; Get the long tie rod end, the adj sleeve, and the short tie rod end for a 93-98 Grand Cherokee (ZJ) WITH a v8.
Step 2: Put it on your jeep.

It is. It's just regular maintenance, but using the good stuff instead of junk.

Yup. Once you're used to working on your Jeep there's really nothing to it. I had done comparatively nothing to my XJ up until about a month ago. From oil changes and some sheet metal work to all my steering, suspension, and new axles thanks to threads like these. Not bad for a computer nerd who had someone else change spark plugs in his last car lol.

What is the correct part number for the drag link on a 1990 XJ? The DS1238 is the only part that I see recommended for these swaps, but every store says that it's only compatible with 91+. Will it work anyway?

Are you just replacing stock part or upgradeing to better grand Cherokee v8 set up ?

Looks like I'll be adding this to the weekend install party. Doing Liquid Iron leaf sliders and now some steering!

Quick ?, the AZ p/n list them as Duralast; is it just a moog part that's rebranded?

Many manufacturers use the same P/N. Get the Moog

Anyone know if Duralast parts are the same as Moog but in a different box. I have read mixed stories on the web about this. I am trying to do XJ/ZJ tie rod upgrade as well but NEED a solid answer before I spend my coin on Duralast from VatoZone. I dont want to spend money on cheap parts that are made in China and will need to change in about 6 months.

Here is a list of part numbers and prices that I had compiled about 6 months ago.
1995-1998 Grand Cherokee (ZJ) V8 5.2 Liter.
Parts needed
Moog Part Numbers

Qty.1 #DS1312 Tie Rod (aka the rod w/TRE
Qty.1 #DS1238 Drag Link
Qty.2 #ES3096L Short Tie Rod Ends(1 by pitman, 1 by outer driver side)
Qty.2 #ES2079S Adjustment Sleeves

Part Numbers O’Reilly’s NAPA Rock Auto.com Vatozone
DS1312 (TRE) $84.99 $51.75 $46.79 $34.99
DS1238 (DragLink) $131.99 $51.75 $59.99 $49.99
ES3096L (ShortTRE)$45.99 N/A $24.79 $18.99
ES2079S (Adj.Slve) $26.99 N/A $14.02 $12.99
TOTAL $362.94 $103.50 $184.40 $148.94

Liljoe, you do not need to get that draglink. It is identical to the one on the xj already. (Unless of course you just want a new one for some reason).
Electro, this swap will fit any and all xjs, the steering setup was the same through all the years. Dont listen to the people pushing buttons behind the computer.
