ok so first I was wondering if there is a rear caliper rebuild kit avalible for a 97 grand rear disc. autozone shows it, but doesnt have it in stock or ship to store.
dealer only part?
also, if I was to buy a remanned caliper why does autozones web site show two different part numbers for what appears to be the same caliper?

Given the low cost of the rear calipers (also the same calipers used on the ford 8.8, and late model TJ's among others) ... A rebuild kit likely isn't going to be easy to find in today's throwaway society.
I would also like to recommend when you do do the swap or re&re the current set up, use 2006 TJ pads and hardware kit .... They use a steel overrider on the caliper ears that eliminates the problematic divot associated with the original ZJ design.

Sounds like this should be called "Why does AutoZone suck so much?"
Normal stores have caliper rebuild kits. RockAuto had a ****load when I did my swap, but I just bought remanned calipers.

Remanned or new calipers would be a good way to go. When it comes to brakes, cheaper is not always better...

Reman calipers should be less than 15-20 bucks. Not worth the headache or the chance of getting something wrong on such a critical part imo.
