Hey guys I'm new to the forums and haven't had any lucky finding information on this. My brother has a 96 grand cherokee and installed a k&n cold air on and his filter box and k&n filter sitting in the garage and I'm wondering if the zj air box is bigger than my stock xj one and can be fitted to mine

 

Its more square. I don't know if it would fit though.

 

I might take a closer look over the weekend, I'm hoping someone else has tried this and has some insight

 

just take yours out and try to make it fit. only takes a coulpe minutes to take out the air box.

 

Update

Finally got around to trying it and after over an hour of chipping plastic and swearing like a sailor i couldn't get it to fit. I got the bottom half in but the top was just too large to fit between the power steering pump and the other side. Would've been nice

 

I know this is a very old post/question... I wondered about this same setup. Did the side of the ZJ airbox interfere with the electronic module on the driver side inner fender of your XJ? it appears that the electronic module can be re-located a few inched closer to the fire wall for added clearance without much effort. If anyone reads this post and had also attempted this swap and was successful, please reply with a few photos of the install if you could please. Thank you
