Default XJ V8 swap!!! Can it be done

Hello XJForum. I was just wondering if a V8 could be droped into a 1990 XJ. I really was just wondering. I have a 5.0 and c6 tranny and Tcase. Just think it would be cool to have a V8 Power later model XJ. if it could even be done.

Yes- https://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/xj_swap.htm

Those guys are going to be your best friend if you want to do it. The sell most of the pieces you will need to get it mounted up/running.

Its a lot of work and if you did not have the motor already, I would tell you to just do a stroker

Sorry for the jeep forum link. Saw it was 11 pages and though it would be complete. Turns out he just fell off and the thread is full of chevy vs ford lol. Do a search on google though and you should be able to find a ton of info on the various forums. Good luck!

why would you want to do this? I think the 4.0 has enough power for what I throw at it, and has enough torque at low rpms. Most of the time when I wheel, I'm just crawling along. I could see it if you want to make the jeep a mud racer and need to blast through stuff, but at times my 4.0 has blasted me through mud just fine. I just think trying to do the V8 swap is a waste of time if you don't have the money and know how. But if your going to do a rock bouncer, V8 is a must..lol

Why by a .357 when a .22 will make a bad guy just as dead?
Why by a 50" Wide Screen when a 44" will do?
Why climb a rugged mountain when you can walk on a flat paved road?

Cuz you can.

It's not all that difficult, i have a 350/700r4/241 from a 89 chevy in mine motor mounts and exhaust manifold clearance were my hardest issue, and i used the stock xj crossmember

It would be easier for most people to just buy one.....http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-Laredo-Sport-Utility-4-Door-1995-Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-Ls1-V8-Conversion-35-000-/131129802252?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1e87f1fe0c&item=131129802252&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
