I have an '00 4.0 XJ with a TUPY head. I would like to eventually upgrade to a Banks header, but I am little confused what style header I'd need for my setup. It would be for '02+ right? Would it fit to my stock down pipe?

If there's a TUPY on there it's not the original 00 head( not a bad thing). As far as to whether the downstream exhaust is Calif or federal look to see if it has the two close coupled cats just below the manifold. If it does it's California.
I'm guessing they're probably gone.

The only change with the TUPY head was the casting thickness. You still need to use the Banks header for the ‘00-‘01 XJ, If you have Calii emissions, you need the down pipe with the twin cats, federal down pipe doesn’t have cats but it is a separate pipe from the header.
MagnaFlow sells both types of downpipes and the jay pipe to the cat in the rear in stainless. Couple that with a MagnaFlow cat back and a Banks header (or whatever cat back you like) with a new MF cat and you’ll have exactly what I’m about too install. lol

Since you have a TUPY head (same as '02+), you’ll need the Banks header for '02–'06. It should bolt to your stock downpipe, but you might need to tweak the exhaust hangers slightly for alignment. Double-check with Banks to confirm fitment, just to be safe.

Thanks for the reply. Is this what you've done to your XJ?
