Is this worth picking up?

I can get a 242 transfer case from a 92 wrangler 2.5L 5 speed with 130k for $25. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I install a different output shaft it'll work?

wranglers never came with 242's from the factory.

Odd.. He said it's a 242. What would it have originally come with a 231?

Yep it most certainly has a 231 in it unless someone did a conversion, easy way to tell is look at the transfer case shifter and look for the "full time" option. no full time 4-wheel means 231

are you looking to do a 231 -> 242 swap or something?
