Hey thanks!!!!! quick search found me this nitro 3.73 and up carrier case, sounds like the right thing, but doesn't list XJ in the descriptor... does it matter?

I'm about to order all the required parts, but I have a question. What, if any, are the issues with lifting just the rear by 3"? the leafs and shocks are not much more than going stock, and 3" would be the maximum lift I'd be looking for. I'm also going to get new shackles as well for better articulation

The only real issues are driveline angle related. 96 and up can be touchy with driveline vibrations due to the slip yoke being too far out on the output shaft and wobbling. You could end up needing a slip yoke eliminator. Some use a transfer case cross member spacer, but I don't recommend that route

I realized talking to a coworker that I forgot a big thing. The brakes on the new axle are disc, but my d35 had drums. Any advice for converting the booster and or parts for the 8.8? Also, I don't have ABS, do I need to worry about that with the 8.8? what about the parking brake? I'm a few weekends from completing the rear end rebuild so I have time to get this sorted out

what is the worry? you'd just connect the line coming off the jeep onto the hard line junction that's on the axle. if your also lifting it you probably need a longer flex line coming off the jeep. they sell all different lengths of those. you dont need to change the booster if you dont want to. if you dont have ABS currently then you dont have to worry about it.
i dont think the XJ parking brakes work on an 8.8 but they sell new ones. or just dont hook them up

I've heard that the stock brake booster will work but the brakes will be really soft, and that to get a firm brake I would need to upgrade the booster. I'm gonna make all new hard lines (I have experience tube bending and flaring ends), and also getting new soft lines, especially since I ended up cutting the drivers side one (night of frustration ended with that straw)... thanks for the link!

When I did it, I used the master out of a ZJ with V8. Not quite enough master, but tolerable. The matching master is the way to go and I also have a ZJ double diaphragm booster

1990. I will wait on the brake booster and see how it works first. I got the swap kit in, carrier, shocks, and u-joints. still waiting on everything else
