What's the best way to route a backup camera wire through the lift gate into the vehicle? Looking at the wiring harness routing out of the main body and into the gate seems great, the same with the washer fluid pipe, but both of those are already fully allocated. Has anyone put a backup camera on an 84-96 before and if you did, what was your solution?
I ended up using both penetrations in the tailgate for washer fluid and wiring harness, then ran the wires for the camera down the internal cavity of each side of the door.
Getting the wire through each gland was easy after I warmed them up and then wetted the cable with IPA.
After that I sealed it all back up with automotive clear silicone.
I did have to drill out the rivits on the tailgate and pop the glads out to feed the wire fish through
Glad you got it sorted out... I could have helped if it was a later year deal... But I did basically the same thing.. Found the best routing with the harness/washer tube and went with that...
Picked up the reverse light trigger in the quarter panel connector for the short run...
Yeah, I picked up the reverse power from the passenger quarter panel wiring harness plug. Soldered directly to the female pins and shink wrapped it all to protect it
