Default Wiper Arms - Better Option than Pin?

Does any aftermarket manufacturer offer a hook style wiper arm? The pin style is giving me fits.

My '00 has the hook style. Never even occurred to me that older Jeeps might not come with that one.
Thinking this is the part at Napa but if you go under Buyer's Guide it just lists '97 to '01 for the application. Plus $29 for one. Don't think so. Sounds like there is a boneyard trip in your future to find out if one will work or not.

Been using the pin style for years, what is so wrong with it?

Blades keep falling off of the pin. Have tried two different brands of blades.

The pins must be worn out, we have never had trouble with those.
U-pull yard should have plenty of either style arms.

Mine has metal frames & springs, I just keep replacing the rubber refill blades as needed.

I have the same problem with Bosch blades, which is my prefered blade. They changed something a few years back is my best guess. I have Anco winter blades on now, pin goes all the way through like they use to on any brand.

You can swap the later 97+ arms on any XJ. I did a '99 arm swap on my '92 years ago.

Thanks for that! Did it today. Works great... except the damn wiper motor transmission frame is going to fail. I can see it. I just rebuilt the damn thing with the cheap Dorman grommets. I can see that it’s going to fail.

Of of all the work that I have done on this XJ, the windshield wiper stuff has been the most frustrating.

Bought a motor for a “91’ - 96’ “ Cherokee, only to find that the electrical connector on the motor wasn’t right (round vs. oval). Never have figured out why the difference (maybe my XJ has a 90’ connector, or the oval connector is for an option like delayed wipe I don’t have).

Had to go to Oriely’s 4 times when I ordered the 97’ wiper arms because they kept freaking ordering the wrong arms.

And now, like I said, the Dorman grommets are going to fail on the transmission frame rebuild. Going to have to find a better solution! 😡
