Never said that the USA was the only place Warn and Ramsey are manufactured. They are sold and used all over the world so I'm sure they are also manufactured in other places. Just saying that all three Warn winches I've owned and the Ramsey all had made in USA stickers on them and that they are manufactured in the US.

sorry to say warn winches are made in mexico as well. this quote is right off there web site.
"To comply with the latest automotive industry standard ISO/TS 16949:2002 Warn Industries obtained certification in 2004. In 2005, Warn opened a sales office in the Netherlands, added a Distribution Center in Clackamas, Oregon, a distribution facility in Gahanna, Ohio and expanded its manufacturing capability by opening a production plant in Saltillo, Mexico."
but in my opinion they are the best winches out there. would love to have one.

Also, my milemarker always worked great, I just did some stupid things (submerging in saltwater) that caused it to fail. Also, I found it a little amusing because when I did order mine, I was going for an 8500 and they (Milemarker) said the 8500 winches were being recalled because the winches were shorting out from water damage, and they upgraded me to a 9500... at my expense, and it failed then too...
I would by a MileMarker now, since I don't go under water anymore, but If I was still stationed at CLNC, I wouldn't. lol

I never stated anything about my believing it was ok to stick a made in USA sticker on anything built in Mexico.
Let me do this again, I have owned three Warn winches that were manufactured in the USA. I have also owned one Ramsey winch that was manufactured in the USA. All four of these winches had made in the USA stickers on them.

How hard is it to understand that Warn winches are made in more than one place. Warn winches are manufactured in Oregon and Mexico maybe even some other places.

I have always heard from anyone who has ever owned a Warn that they will never use anything differant. and just in defense (just to say...lol) It could be that the poster you are replying to just doesn't have the new info, but it is interested that they are outsourcing a little, meaning that a lot of people who buy Warn is because it is American made.

i was on a budget when i bought my 10000lb smitty built and has not failed me yet but as you said i dont need it that much. only when i do something stupid! just keep in mind all winches need for the motor to cool down so if your really stuck. you might not be able to do a full pull with it

There are cheaper winches from Smitty Built, Rough Country, and Rugged Ridge. Most have had good luck with them, but some have had really bad luck with them. Warn builds a 8000 lb winch the VR8000 that has a lifetime limited warranty, is backed by Warn and cost less than 480 with free shipping.
I would go with the Warn. Just my .02

Greengoblin: As far as I know Warn doesn't build winches in Mexico that they label Made in the USA. I'm pretty sure
that would be illegal, that is why my pickup has an assembled in Canada sticker.
