If you believe all that stuff you read in magazines then yes you are crazy. You dont think the manufactures pay those people in the magazine that test that stuff. Of course they do. And you are buying into it just like they want you to SUCKER!

And I would just like to say that I stated in that comment that " I heard" My brother was telling me about it, I didnt see the article myself. But it is the next winch I am buying. Like that one guy said, they obviously test their equipment before selling it and there would be a LOT more negative comments about them around the web if they were that bad.
i have a rugged ridge 10500 winch on my ranger, and its about to go on my xj. no rocks here in fl, and plenty of power to pick my ranger up. no problems so far and got it for 250

They pay them by giving them the winch to test.....I believe it is unbiased.

Wasn't really reffering to you if you thought I was about the "netwheelers".
Warn is totally Chinise
Ramsey does in fact, (I stand corrected, a little!) make SOME of it's winches in the USA
Based on what I can find, the bigger ones for industrial use and for tow trucks and such are made in USA.
The ones we are going to buy are very likely, at most, "assembled in USA" (with Chinese parts)
Old Warns and Ramseys used to be made here ... but then, so did a lot of things.

Personally, I dont know which winch is good and which is not. I aint been into this 4x4 stuff very long at all. But I have been in the horse power business for a long time. Ive seen people grab those magazines advertising they built this engine using these components and made x number of horsepower and torque, only to find out it was all hyped up. They built the same thing they read in a magazine and got disappointed when they found out it didnt live up to their expectations. You call em netwheelers, I call em magazine racers. Cause thats all they know, what they read in some BS magazine.

I have a superwinch, but have not had to use it yet. I will put my responce in here in time, when time has had a chance to prove the Superwinch. Some of my buddies have had them in the past, and say they are a good brand for the money, so in time i will see, but they look a lot more sturdy than my old milemarker... granted my milemarker went bad from my submerging it several times in Saltwater, but it worked great when I was using it all the time.
People in 2wd trucks and cars never listen in NC when the sign at Topsail speciffically says 4WD only. We got a lot of free beer from pulling people out. lol

Did some serious searching and found this.

Warn: Manufacturing, Research & Development:
Warn operates over 400,000 square feet in two Oregon manufacturing facilities and a technical facility in Livonia, Michigan. Warn holds quality certifications for ISO/TS 16949:2009, ISO 9001:2008, and environmental certification ISO 14001:2004. Warn has over 110+ issued and pending domestic and international patents, and continue a long history of new product innovation.
Ramsey: Manufacturing
Ramsey Winches are quality products made in the USA! Many winch brands that pretend to be from the USA or Australia are actually made in CHINA.
I did come up with more info on Warn than I did on Ramsey, but multiple websites stated that Ramsey was made in the USA so I'll believe them since I've actually owned a Ramsey that had a Made in the USA sticker on it.

sorry to say warn winches are made in mexico as well. this quote is right off there web site.
"To comply with the latest automotive industry standard ISO/TS 16949:2002 Warn Industries obtained certification in 2004. In 2005, Warn opened a sales office in the Netherlands, added a Distribution Center in Clackamas, Oregon, a distribution facility in Gahanna, Ohio and expanded its manufacturing capability by opening a production plant in Saltillo, Mexico."
but in my opinion they are the best winches out there. would love to have one.
