How often are you going to use your winch? Obviously using a winch all the time you want a good one like a Warn. I would love to have a Warn mounted on the front of my Cherokee but I don't have Warn money.
I've used the Badland Winches from Harbor Freight, for 400 bucks, they are insane strong. I've seen one drag a Ford F250 super duty through mud, all four tires locked. And if it couldn't drag the Ford, it drug the International 1850 (If I have the model correct) Yeah it's not a smittybuilt or a Warn, but with a 2 year no questions asked replacement, it's a good winch.

I have an Engo E9000s. At first I was a little worried about it ( soo cheap!) but after reading several shootouts, I bought one. With it I probably pulled out 20 cars this winter included a Shwans truck, suburban, and several F250s/2500s. I have drug myself through feet of snow- sometimes for a few miles tree to tree. I've been very happy with it. Has a lifetime mechanical warranty (1 year electrical). Has won "best value" in most 4x4 magazines. My only complaint/wish is that it pulled a little faster. Not terribly slow but not quick either. About the same as the old Ramsey I add years ago. Whatever you get, try to get synthetic cable... So much nicer.
