Default 2wd to 4wd conversion

So I don't want to ask a question that I could have found through a search but I tried searching and didn't find anything helpful so I was just wondering if anyone could direct me to a write up on how to convert a 2wd to 4wd? Thanks!

Find a wrecked 4wd and start removing parts

But it would be much easier and probably cheaper to sell the 2wd and buy a 4wd.

Cheaper...maybe. Unless the 2wd you have already is paid for and in really good shape. At least you know it wasn't wheeled hard.
Easier...sure. But converting isn't hard since its literally all remove and replace.
Best bet is to find one that was running and driving but has a bad motor. Pull what you need to swap and sell off the rest. Second to that is probable a pull a part junkyard. Do your research and snag the parts you need. When I did mine I ended up paying the junkyard to pull the 4x4 transmission since the jeep was laying in the dirt and no way to get to it. I paid a little over 300 bucks (including the transmission and t case cost) and didn't have to do a thing.

Did you use the totally useless in-site search or Google? Google has a way to refine results so it only searches one site. Adding "site:cherokeeforum.com" is the best way to search this forum. Works for other forums too.

Cool. Don't be too sure on the 2000 having a strong engine hehe, look up the 0331 head problem.

Sounds like you're set. Transmission and everything "downstream" of it is all you'll need to go between those two years.

Ditto 98 powertrain in 2000.
