Winch mounting question
Installing a xrc8 winch on my orfab bumper. The hole for the winch line to come through is near the upper mounting holes. But the line comes off the bottom of the drum. This seems like it would put a lot of strain on the lower roller even on a straight pull. This is my first winch so there is a good chance I have done something wrong. Or is this normal? Thanks for the help. I want to make sure I have this installed properly before I need to use it. I was also going to get a hawse lead because the rollers stick out to far but it seems like that would make things even worse.

If you move the cable to the top side of the drum it will put more stress on the mounting bolts. There shouldn't be an issue if you are using the roller fairleads that came with it because they are rated for the stress. I run and Xrc8 and have never had an issue. Most of my winching I end up having half of my line or more out so it is pulling more towards the center of the drum anyway.
