Default Winch controller mounting on ARB bull bumper

Does anyone have a good location for mounting the winch controller? I've been looking for one but can't find one.

you can relocate the control box under the hood and then extend the wiring for the plug and put it wherever you want. I have mine in the grill.

The hardware kit would have included a bracket to mount the controller on top, dead centre. Right above the hole where you can access the cable.

SHort of having something fabricated to hold the solenoid box in that location you could do as suggested: extend the wiring to enable relocating the box under the hood.

The location shown in the pictures is actually a bad location for the solenoid box. Too exposed to water and dirt. Also makes it awkward to plug in the controller.

I bought the winch used so I don't have all the hardware. That is the ideal mounting location I think. Thanks again

Mine is mounted under the hood with extended cables and I have the winch controls in the dash.

A buddy did his right behind the DS front fender. With the connection directly behind the side marker light.

That's nice. It won't fit there due to a massive transmission cooler I installed. I put the one reccomend end for 3500 heavy duty trucks.

I need to get a cooler for my trans. I'm going to have to find a smaller one.

The bracket would have come with the ARB bumper. I'm guessing that you got the bumper used as well since most people selling that bumper tend to package the bracket with the winch. (this happened to me too)

I would be inclined to mount the solenoid box somewhere up high under the hood. On the fender or on the firewall, wherever there is room, and then extend the actual plug-in for the controller to the driver's side outer fender so that it is easily accessible.

Thanks for your help. I called ARB and they shipped me a new bracket for free. This was the best customer service person I ever dealt with. If you ever need anything from ARB contact buddy.

Cab mounted controls are the best then mount the controller plug anywhere that easy to get to and out of the way when not in use.

Interesting. ARB USA or did you ask ARB Australia? I had asked ARB-USA for the bracket when I got my bumper and they couldn't be bothered to do anything for me. I even offered to pay for the part. They just told me that it was part of the hardware package and they don't seperate them.

I lucked out when I finally got my XD9000 because the seller had it mounted in an ARB Bullbar for an XJ and was selling the winch and bar seperately. He had the bracket still bolted to the solenoid box and I didn't point out to him that the bracket should go with the bumper.

I should e-mail ARB and complain. It's ultimately not a big deal but it does not represent their company well and it was disappointing to not get any support from them.
