Winch cable thimble... choices
Been looking at these Factor55 thimbles...
Nice stuff, but then saw the Smittybilt thimble ... looks about the same at 1/2 the price...
anyone using the smittybilt?

I missed your question the first go round. It is my understanding Smittybuilt is one of those companies that reengineers other companies ideas and sells them at half the cost, the Harbor Freight of Jeep parts. Factor 55 is to thimbles as Warn is to winches, the Cadillac. I'm with you on a lot of my purchases, I don't need a Cadillac, the Chevy will get the job done. I think it becomes a moral question, do you want to support the knock off or the genuine? Is supporting the genuine worth what they are asking for it?

I agree, But then I don't have time to figure out who invented what and where everything is made these days.....
I'm not that much of a 4-wheeling aficionado.
I just happen to be looking for a convenient way to stow the cable and saw this one.
Seems to be high quality also... and works for me.

Having held both at the same time, there is no doubt the factor 55 is the superior version. But if your not going to use it much, then the smittybilt is perfectly fine.
