Default Winch Bumper Install

So I put my winch bumper on about 2 years ago, but neglected to put all of the bolts in. Now that i'm getting around to it, I noticed a problem. On the passenger side, the rear-most bolt hole is partially obstructed by something within the unibody. This hole is the farthest one to the rear (it's the same for any winch bumper with the tie in's) on the passenger side. The piece seems pretty sturdy and thick, so I don't really want to drill through it. Any ideas about what to do?

Default Brackets

The XJ I bought already had a winch bumper on it. When I removed it to put my front stiffeners on, we realized that the p.o. put the wrong bumper bracket on the wrong side. The one that went on the side of the steering box was a lot larger and the other which did not even have all the holes for the steering box. Hence my frame ended up cracking by the steering box.

My winch bumper was one piece and the drivers side is heaver for the steering box. In my sons case on his multi piece ft bumper he did reverse the brackets and had the same problem.

If not check the directions again or call where you bought it.

It's one piece with the winch tray built in. So it's on the correct way. I'll try to get a pic later to clarify. The problem is with the unibody; both the bumper holes and the frame holes are the same size. There is just something in the way.

It should be in the instructions where that hole may need to be opened up a bit. Not a big deal.
