Do you get stuck a lot without any trees or boulders around?
If you don't want to buy a pull pal.... next time you get stuck you could dig a deadman winch anchor...

Get yourself a disc ( like the ones used on a farm to turn soil ) put an angle bushing on it and a short steal rod with a d-ring for attaching the winch line. The disc will dig its self into the ground when you start winching and it is smaller, lighter, and less expensive than the Pull Pal.
