Default Will this lift work?

A buddy of mine just gave me 2 sets of springs and 4 shocks that he was going to use on his grand Cherokee as a lift. The smaller springs measure 16 inches long and 5.5 inches wide approximately. The longer springs measure 19 inches in length and 5.5 inches long. The front shocks have a sky jacker decal and the body of the shock measures 14 inches. I know the shocks will mount but are they long enough with the lift? The shocks for the front have a part number of H7055S and C299U3F. The rears are H7051S and C305U3F. The body of the rear shocks measures 14 inches apprx.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I hope I can use either of the springs and hopefully these shocks will be long enough for the time being. I should say my plan is to have a 3 in lift with an s10 bastard pack. I want to do more lift but this is my dd and I don't want to hassle with all the extra additions that come with a lift.

If the springs will work, then how much lift can i get out of them?

if you have a grand cherokee than sure or you have a rear coil set up done on your cherokee than why not but absolutley not on a stock cherokee you need leaf springs for the rear

I realize this. I'm asking if the measurements will fit a xj Cherokee. I have no guarantee that this coils came off a grand Cherokee. My buddy is clueless when it comes to cars. He bought it off a guy then said it didn't fit his setup.

i would say go and measure to see how wide your current springs are and if its the same they will work with out issues. as for how much lift you will get i couldnt tell ya. look up those part numbers on google and see what you can find on them

Great! Are they long enough to provide a lift? I read somewhere that a coil height of 20 in will provide a 4 in lift.

Lift height will depend on spring rate. If they are from a ZJ they should give you roughly 2-3". If they are from something else who knows. The longer ones that is.

A more accurate measure of the springs are 19.25 and 5.25 wide with 10 coils.

Maybe 2.5 in of lift from the springs?

Maybe still going to depend on spring rate and what they were made for.

Looks like like I'm going to have to install them to determine the spring rate and lift height. Any idea on the shocks? Are they measurements standard?

For shocks you want to measure eye to eye. Get a measurement collapsed, then extend them out and measure. Then compare to a shock chart for XJ's with however much lift you end up with. Or search the part number on google.

I by no means know as much as most of the guys on here but let me offer you a bit of advice... I just recently bought my xj and the previous owner did a real hack job/ little bit of everything lift and through it together. I purchased it knowing I would have to throw money into it and got a good deal anyways.

What I'm really trying to say is unless you are extremely knowledgeable in suspension fabrication and or know how I would say just save your money and buy a lift kit. NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE. Just my .02

Budget lift site. I did one on mine, however I bought new. The stock V8 GC springs netted about 4.25 inches of lift on my 88. GC springs will fit, but i think the V8 ones are the only ones that will net much lift (stronger spring due to heavier front end). Take a look at the link above.

Good Luck

The part number JC03F matches the part number for Sky jacker springs. Says it will fit an xj with 3"lift. Sweet!
