I would be more worried about it not fitting the frame rails or clearing a component that may be placed differently from one model to the other.

L6 is another way of saying I6 or Inlnie 6. A carry over designation from the old L head inline 6 engines.
i didn't think they ran I6's sorry

Sorry.... Don't know why I was so grumpy there. Other people irritating me and I took it out on you. Sorry about that.

As an FYI... the 6 cylinder engine has been a staple in the Jeep brand starting around 1965 until 2006 when the 4.0 liter was killed off to be replaced by the 3.8 liter V6 minivan engine.

An inline 6 was used in the following Jeep vehicles:

232 cid (3.8L)
Jeep CJ (1972–79)
Jeep Cherokee (1974–79)
Jeep Wagoneer (1965–1971)
Jeep J series trucks (1965–1970)
Jeep Commando (1972–1973) (1976 in Spain)

258 cid (4.2L)
Jeep CJ (1972–1986)
Jeep Cherokee and Wagoneer (1972–1986)
Jeep J series trucks (1971–1988)
Jeep Wrangler (1987–1990)
Jeep Commando (1972–1973)

242 cid (4.0L)
1987–2001 Jeep Cherokee
1993–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
1987–1990 Jeep Wagoneer
1987–1992 Jeep Comanche
1991–2006 Jeep Wrangler

... You people take me too seriously. Apparently, I'm going to have to heavier on the emoticon usage.

Come on up any time you'd like. You're more than welcome to tag along on a wheeling trip.

In fact, we have a trip planned to Gulches in January. It'd only be a 7 hour and 4 minute drive for you.
