Although I only have a '90, I did this fix on my rig this summer. I't took me all of 30 minutes to do and I even painted all my needles red and put red led's in. It's not hard but hopefully you have a gf/wife/sister cause you'll need their hair dryer...a heating gun will put too much heat on them and screw it up.

Also, ^^ the film thing will be tough to do, so rather than taking it off since it's standard green film and you're soing blue LEDS, go to whitegauges.net.. I'd buy everything from them it's free shipping and they tell you what LED size and amount you need, and then back to the green film problem... I'd get the glow wire as well to help push the blue through a bit otherwise like the guy said youll have spotty gauge lights. Plus keeping the film will help from them being too bright and annoying.
