Default Where can I connect this led strip to a 12v power source.

Yesterday I purchased a LED light strip from autozone to shine down on the passanger and driverside floorboards. Kinda similar to this
http://www.amazon.com/Lighting-Airpl.../dp/B00136KBZ4"><span style=http://www.amazon.com/Lighting-Airpl.../dp/B00136KBZ4" /> http://www.amazon.com/Lighting-Airpl.../dp/B00136KBZ4">http://www.amazon.com/Lighting-Airpl.../dp/B00136KBZ4

All I want is a seamless install for these. So where can I connect these to a 12v power source that is not visable?

The fuse box under the dash on the drivers side should have some spare 12v plugs you can tap into. Easy and well hidden.

Why not just tap into the lights already there?

That's what I did, that way they are already tied into the door/dome switch circuit. Works like a charm. There should be one on each side just under the dash and a little inboard of the kick panels. They were there in my 96 and I did the same thing in my 99. Just splice into the 2 wires for the little footwell bulbs and you are good - just make sure you have enough wire before you splice to reach where you want the leds to mount. I had multiple led panels spliced on each side since they draw way less current than an incandescent bulb, and had no blown fuses or any other problems at all for years. Looks sweet too, and you can actually find stuff you drop at night so well worth the minimal effort!

tip: if you wanna add some for the rear footwells, even if it's at a later date, splice the wires in while your doing it now and run them back under the center console or under the door trim. Then all your floors light up when the doors open or you turn the dome light on.

Yes. If needed I will go take a pic. I have my dash torn apart.

I had the foot well light connections in my '95. On each side, under the lower dash next to the kickpanels, there should be plugs. Each plug will have a yellow and pink wire going in to it; that's your interior light connection. On the passenger side, there will probably also be wiring for a front dash speaker (if not already in use) and for door power options (again, if not already in use).

Thanks for the pic. But if I would use that connection, wouldn't it only work when the doors are open? Idealy, I want to have constant power to it. That way, I can have it hook up to a switch to turn it on and off at my own will.

Spent a little time looking at it tonight. Im taking the power from the radios constant supply. From there I'll connect a wire that will run to the 2 positive leads of the 2 stands. And somewhere on the wire I'll be putting a switch that will mount somewhere to the left of the ash tray.

The footwell lights work w/ the interior lights, which in turn work w/ the headlight switch.

yea if you tie in to the footwell lights, you can turn them on and off at will using the dome light switch which is part of the headlight **** dealie. Works without the keys that way, but the overhead dome lights do come on at the same time.
