I swapped my D35 for an 8.25 today and it runs great. But I was expecting my ABS light to come on and have to pull a fuse and all this. But when I went out for the test drive my ABS light didn't come on, and it stopped fine. Did my jeep not have ABS? I thought all jeeps with a D35 had ABS. I'm not complaining, I just want to get some feedback/clarification.

They never made ABS for rear drum brakes. Now swop your front 30 for a 44 and if you have ABS the light will come on.

they did put ABS with rear drums... my 2000 with D35 has ABS. Easy to spot ABS.... there will be an electric cable which runs to the hub of the diff along with the brake line. That's the ABS cable.

Abs dose not affect the drum brakes your front might have abs but that system has nothing to do with the rear. If you think different then take a pick of the rear abs sensor and post it up. Oh you cant find it. I wonder why.

Its pretty scungy with dirt, but you can make out the ABS ring, the sensor is the part in the middle of the photo (with the 10mm bolt showing through).

It's in there, mine had it as well. You can tell because the axles have tone rings. When I went with alloy shafts my light came on and it's still on now, hoping it will burn out one of these days because I don't feel like pulling the dash to get to the bulb.

My 35 had abs. I swapped for 8.25 and cut sensors. Light came on but It still works fine. The abs does not effect your breaks unless u have them locked up. Other than that they do nothing.
