Default what's the difference???

First off i've built quite a few 4x4's, but never an XJ. So kinda learning as I go. So what is the difference between a long arm kit and a regular lift kit? What is the bennefits of a long arm kit? Any help would be great. Thanks

long arms are the best thing you can get for a jeep, more flex, better ride etc. and by more flex I mean TONS of flex.

Long arm is definitly the way to go. Much better ride on the road. If your going to biuld the jeep to crawl you will get alot more articulation and flex from a long arm setup.
Short arm will be a rough ride down the road. Miine was. Beat the hell out of me.

Rough ride with short arms depends on the lift height and coils. Under ~4-5" its not to bad rides a bit like a truck. Over that angles start getting funky and you get your rough ride. Articulation wise I have a long arm on my pickup and a short arm on the XJ and holy crap is there a difference.

Plan on staying at 3" for the rest of your lift?

Good info FrankZ.

Long arms and Shackle relocation brackets would be my two biggest suggestions for anyone building an XJ.
