Default What SYE Are You Running?

Needing to get a SYE for my 99' XJ with 5.5" lift. I know there are so many out there to choose from but would really like to get some feedback from a real user. I have a few in mind. Running a 231 TC. What SYE are you running? And what drive shaft? Lenth?

I picked up an AA SYE kit straight from them. You can pick one up for about 2 bills. As far as driveline goes, I went with a Coast Driveline. The guys there were great and we had some good conversations about competitors shafts, no pun...
I took measurements for what I had from yoke to yoke and they walked me through the process of elimination as far as what length I needed.
Of course this depends on what you are running, aftermarket leaf packs, or something custom from Deaver or Alcan to say a full coil conversion.
Most companies such as JE Reel, Coast Driveline and Tom Woods deal with this everyday and that most have some "preset" measurement depending on your overall lift.

If you get a front shaft outta a v8 zj it's 2 inches longer than a XJ front shaft... Worked for me on my old jeep,And I'm sure would be cheaper and stronger than an extended XJ shaft, ask me how I know lol

I have a NP242 case, so I have to run a HNT until I am done building the NP231 case. But the style your looking at is the ideal setup, its stronger and longer lasting then the HNT (hack and tap)

as for drive-line I have a stock XJ automatic front drive-line as my rear. works great sitting at 5.5" of lift and moved the rear axle back 1 inch. should work just fine for most kits. The hard part is depending on your setup, lift, rear axle it may not be perfect. wont know until you try.

the drive-line above looks like it was extended in a cheap way and the welds broke, this is not normal. Was a hack job. Any Quality drive-line shop would re-tube it with a new tube if its to short, welding in a smaller tube to extend it adds another fail point and is just bad practice IMO.

I know. just stating that an extended "modified" drive-line should be as strong or stronger. don't want people reading this and thinking modified drive-lines are junk. but it does happen.

I had a local drive line shop extend a few shafts for my Samurai in the past . Had a built 350 with 35" boggers and held up great. Its much cheaper also. As long as the shop knows what there doing, I think it will be strong enough also.

Two of my XJ's have the AA SYE and one has the P.O.R.C. SYE. I see no difference in the two brands. I got a deal on all 3, paid $150 for AA's and $175 for the PORC.

I'm running stock XJ front shafts and have never had an issue, plus they are cheap/easy to find and you only have to carry one spare(it will work front/rear)

Works like a champ. Pick and pull and rebuild if necessary.
