Just installed a 2" shackle lift and I am going to need longer shocks. When I brake moderately hard I am getting a "blap blap blap" sound coming from what seems to be my rear end. It's not a hard knock like metal to metal but it sounds like if my mud terrains are slapping a fender or something. Is this the sound a shock makes when it is over extended or is it something else? When parked, it looks like the shocks maybe have 1-2 inches of up-travel when I bounce it from pushing on the bumper and that's it.

I am thinking that it is more than likely the shocks but if I needed something else, I would want to know before I start replacing stuff. Tires aren't hitting anything and I don't see anything else making noise aside from the exhaust pipe hitting the shackle bolt (need to fix too)
Any thoughts?

 

Rear bumpstops. Did you get longer ones when you did the lift? Plus I live in the south and mine were non existent . So I would crawl under and see if you have rear bumpstops. Also I would look to see if your shackle bolt is hitting your exhaust

 

Did you touch the U-bolts at all? When I got mine they were so loose you could wiggle them by hand and did the exact same thing. Crawl down there and see if they have come loose at all.

 

I will have to check it out. I bought it with the lift and it never had the sound till after I did the shackle lift. The muffler is hitting the shackle bolt for sure but that makes a different noise.
