I'm not saying winches aren't amazing to have but if your on a budget lockers will get you farther then the winch plus for somebody that's starting out off roading a come a long will teach them to think before the jump off into random mud pits and hardcore obstacles

I do agree but at the same time taking care of his rig and being responsible is is own choice, I remember taking a Geo car fwd mudding along with a Dodge Monaco and drag it out into we blew the transmission in the Dodge, if it's a toy it will be treated like one, if it's daily driver and he loves it he'll treat it that way.

back when I was at the point were this young gentleman is building his Jeep I was told a which is a 4 wheelers insurance, pay for it now and drive it home tomorrow, even if it's 1 lamp post at a time.
and that's my take
