We’ve all been here, and I need some input on this subject.
I’ve tried to do as much research as possible on this subject, but there isn’t much info on what injectors fit my little 2.5. I’m wanting to swap over to 4 hole injectors, maybe a little more flow over stock, which I believe is about 18#.
Now, i’ve read some pretty compelling stuff regarding upgrading from the one hole to the 4 hole injectors, especially in the 2.5. I’ve read that it idles better, gets off the line a little smoother, and in a lot of cases, nets a little better MPG because of how much more “precise” the 4 hole injectors are at distributing fuel.
So, using some birthday money I got a while back, I tried my hand at some 4 hole injectors from eBay, and they had good reviews. They fit without problem, but they wouldn’t seat to the fuel rail, and when I cranked it over, they would spray fuel everywhere. So they didn’t work, and I was a little upset because they didn’t work.
So, I went to trusty Google, and found some potential candidates from junkyard cars.
I read that you need to have the EV-1 plugs, which is OBD1. So anything 95 and older should work. I also read that they need to be about the same size, same flow rate, and they should fit without issue.
So, from what I read, Injectors from a Crown Vic with the 4.6, 95 and older, should work. Or a 95 or older Mustang with the (5.0?) should work as well, as well as some other Ford engines.
But, when I try and find someone whos done the swap with those injectors, I only get stuff from 96+ or ones that got some off of eBay or the likes.
So, I don’t know which ones will fit my little 2.5. I’m planning on doing some other “small” mods, like the 4.0 TB along with getting rid of the fan clutch, and MAYBE getting different duration rockers. There’s not much I can do for my 2.5, but i’ve heard you have to do a lot to these 4 bangers to get something noticeable.
Plus, i’m bored. I like to see if things work, and if they do, then someone else will look back at this thread and maybe it’ll help them, since there’s not a lot of info on these 2.5’s.
