It is the stock rear axle of a 95 jeep cherokee country edition, 31 inch bfg mts, soon to be 33's, it is a daily driver so lockers are out of the question,

We need to know what rear axle you have. Chrysler 8.25 or Dana 35? I have a Dana 35 with the factory limited slip and its pretty nice for a daily driver.

A lot of people eill gouch for some of the newer lunchbox lockers in the rear on a DD, I think Aussie and Spartan? (I try to pay attention)

Also of importance is your rear gear ratio. If you don't know the numbers, they can usually be gleaned from the year, engine, and type of transmission. Eg 4.0L with AX-15 shipped with 3.07 gearing. AW-4 XJs often got 3.55

I'm 100% but I dont think they make limited slip for the c8.25. You could find a cheap ford 8.8 with limited slip, but some carbon fiber disc's in the diff and swap it in. Pretty simple and cheap swap

I dd my XJ with a lock-right in the rear on 33's all over the country, dd a locker isnt so bad...

Yes the 8.25" was available with a Trac-Loc (AKA - Trash-Loc) LSD.

in your opinion, should i just get an aussie for the back, a lot of people are saying that they drive great on the street, and theyre cheaper than an lsd

If you install a LSD you'll have to set up back lash, any of the lunch box type lockers that will fit your C/8.25 will be easier to set up. Once you learn how they act when driven they will be better than a LSD, that wears out clutches and doesn't work.

Yet there are thousands in-service that have never had a problem.

Bad luck perhaps...dunno.
