Ive also ditched the mechanican for a set of ebay fans. As most do with ebay gear I had my dobuts. Bought 2 10 in fans both rated at 1550cfm. Built up a shroud for them and mounted to the top rad support with a few bolts holding the bottom of the shroud to the rad. They have worked great so far. I wired them up so that they will only come on at 218degrees. This will come inhandy for winter and they are on a switch so water crossing is no issue. The thing im getting to now is even with these fans being fairly slim (2.5in ) I believe, is the old mech fan pulley. Went to jy last week and picked a YJ ac bracket, zj alt, and zzj lower alt bracket. There is a thread on NAJAX if you search YJ accesory bracket. It shows how the YJ bracket will get rid of the mech fan nub for clearance of electric fans. Now i can delete my ac in the same shot and call it a day with a shorter YJ belt and no mech fan nub. Id highly suggest this as im not sure how people get away with out it. My fan only after a few wheeling trips is starting to get dinged up by the old mech fan pulley.

Actually, you can drop $50 and just buy the fan shroud. I already had three 10" fans, and planned on installing them but kept putting it off because I didn't like the idea of the thru-rad plastic ties. My brother used them on his V8 YJ and the ties actually cut into the tubes! When I saw you can just buy the shroud, I thought, 'Sweet!' and went for it.
The shroud looks good, and will be going in soon.
HTH!

Mind you, I might have had an odd duck XJ... They certainly didn't shy away from pumping out some odd combinations from the factory, eh?

what is the cfm on the 95 and older and 96 and newer fans? How much cfm is recommended to keep our 4.0s cool?
I've seen a lot of guys running dual stock electric fans. And a lot of guys saying it won't work. I imagine it depends on your local climate. I'm just trying to figure what is the best route for me.
