Hey, I'm going to redo my whole exhaust and I've got everything I need. I'm going with a flowmaster super 10 but I need a new cat since its quite rusty. I was looking at a highflow cat from magnaflow (https://www.magnaflow.com/products/5...ytic-converter) but it has no o2 sensor port. I was wondering if I could just weld in an o2 port after the cat and would it give accurate readings? some say that highflow cats don't clean as well and it'll send codes. Is this true? If so do you guys recommend a more OEM type cat with a built in o2 port. let me know your thoughts.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
I got my cat from these folks ...

I have a 1990 xj. it had to be the pricey california cat. Stock, my oxygen thing is not on nor near the cat. cat is behind transfer case, oxygen sensor is near the cast iron manifold to steel pipe connection, next to engine block, several feet upstream of the cat.
Unless you have some special high flow valves, and are balanced and beefed up for super high redline, you wont gain anything you will possibly notice with a high flow cat verses a good stock stock type cat. If jeep could have gained a hand full more horsepower more, or improved mileage even a small amount by including a high flow cat, they would have. For stock engines, stock cat is fine. get one with the oxygen sensor bung already installed, why make more work for yourself?
What Year XJ you got? California or 49 state? Do you nedd to pass smog?
Also it is wise to install new oxygen sensor when cat is replaced. bad sensors can ruin good cats, it is sad how many good cats have gone bad do to running with a bad sensor!

I'd seen Rock Auto offers afew choices. The Bosal Cataltic Converter caught my eye.

I don't even see how this is a "high flow" cat. Also it looks like both ends may need to be welded. Too much extra cost and labor.Originally Posted by 1999CherokeeXJ

Do you need a CA cat (or NY)(or somewhere else I forgot)?
