Hit up a junkyard and grab some Dakota or f150 leafs and build a bastard pack.
they are the Superior Automotive 13-4100 they will give you 1.5-2.5" of lift depending on the shackle angle and weather you use the shortest of tallest mounting hole, they are around $35(price went up... bummer I know)... they are very well made... I had a set and was impressed with the value

chevy 2500HD Z71 shocks in the rear of mine were a damn good deal free and they are nitro charged perfect length for a 5" lift with BPE's 3" without. ride is pretty good on them.

We call them credit card cowboys! Bright and shiny objects don't last long on any true off-road vehicle.

I was checking out shock specs today, and looking specifically at the extended length, and wondered if anyone knew of a shock that was slightly longer than the 20 inches that the stock shocks are.

Thanks for the tip on the 2500HD shocks, I'll check out the specs on those.

You could take time to check all your vacuum lines and electrical lines. You can also refresh your ground wires throughout the engine bay. All of that stuff should be boring to do, but its important and free.

My kids are always telling me I need to wash my XJ. I always tell them not to get too close.because theyll get dirty...Keeps people from leaning against it.

Whats the sense in washing it,its just gonna get muddy again...I like driving it around with the muddy look, gives it character and shows its not just a pavement pounder.
