Default what about beadlocks?

at what point in my wheeling career should I worry about beadlocks.
they look like theyre for only the most hardcore wheelers
is it even worth putting locks on 33's

if your going to be doing any kinda rock crawling, racing, or anything that requires your tires to be aired down to 10 PSI and lower is when you need beadlocks really

Most are for offroad use only. Only a couple are actually street legal.

With that being said, offroad they are amazing. Nothing like being able to air down under 5psi to get the most possible traction

and beadlocks are not DOT approved, not exactly illegal for road use but i would do it too often. when you use them on-road, then you always have to make sure the bolts are torqued

nit to sound like a dick really, i have yet to find a law where it specifically says that they are illegal, i know that they are not DOT approved. so if you get in an accident and during the accident one of the tires blows, i doubt that the insurance company will cover it

HMMWV bead locks have a nice big DOT stamp on them. Do a bit more research before posting people are wrong.

Poison spider, AEV, and rock monster beadlocks are all dot approved.

That's even one of the main selling points for the spider locks

And there are others

Most big brand bead locks are DOT approved

http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/techart...o/viewall.html

Quite a few big names AEV, spyderlocks, hutchinsons, rock monster the list goes on. HMMWV rims loose there DOT stamp when recentered though.

Some beadlocks are not dot approved, but that doesn't mean they all aren't
