I am also curious, I was thinking tru-trac or similar but I have never seen that three bolt setup before.

The cherokee is a 96 previous owner put a low pinion in it.

I passed the pics around to the powers that be and they said definitely looks like an old Eaton TruTrac. There should be a 5 digit part number on it generally starting with a "5" for that old of a unit.

it's a limited slip carrier, either eaton or auburn. nothing unusual about it i've pulled many like it out of jeeps cause the are junk. they only work if your tires are on the ground.

Only markings I have found on it are scribbed into it. I thought that I had found a little piece of gold. Guess its sh++ instead
