with plenty of time I'm doing a lot of much needed maintenance. When I was removing dash I found this and don't know what it was for. It has cut speaker wires, power source, display output. And can't find any info on the Google
Year: 1998 Classic (I'll get it running soon....) and 02 Grand
Model: Cherokee (XJ)
Engine: 4.0
Interesting. I don't think it's factory.
I see some pretty hefty power in, plus (probably) an ignition sense wire, and.... what else? Accessory position sense, probably.
You also have audio out - you say the speaker wires are cut?
Then there is what could be a display driver cable - the multi cable that's shown on the label.
Then there is one other. Unknown. Possibly a feed to the radio?
No clue! If the wires to it are cut, it's probably safe to remove it. I suggest you follow every wire and see where it goes. That might provide a clue.
definitely not being used. speaker wire cut, cable labeled control cut, cable labeled commander display cut, wire to original radio still connected, could it be a alarm?
Well it could be Mopar but is not factory in a sense.
Does it say Mopar anywhere on it?
Cause it looks like the FM Modulator that I have in my XJ.
I have the dealer, not factory, installed 6 CD Changer.
It plays over a lower FM Station. Is hardwired between the antenna and the
antenna input on a factory radio. Also is powered.
Has one of those round black DIN connectors on it that the wired remote for the CD changer is connected too.
It actually works really well too.
Link is of the Modulator on Ebay cause I don't have a shot of mine.
Second shot is of the wired remote connected to it and is a shot of mine.
Could also be an aftermarket FM modulator for an aftermarket CD Changer.
doesnt say Mopar anywhere, looks similar but is labeled for some kind of control and display
Well from what I could see from your pictures when compared to mine is the white plug is the power to it.
Spliced in back there into something.
The black wire I can see in the same shot is probably the antennae connector.
The round black circle is what my wired remote for my CD changer would be plugged into.
So I am going with remnants of an aftermarket CD Changer installed by a car stereo shop.
