So just like the title says i need some advise on were to start the mods on my 1999 4dr XJ. The plan is to Lift it 4.5" with maybe a new rear axle with a locker and maybe a locker in the front also. Maybe some rocker guards and some custom bumpers in the front and rear. My question is were do i start. What makes more sense to get first. Should i armor the jeep first then a lift or the other way around. Just looking for a good starting point with a tight budget but not that tight.

if your serious about getting axles, i'd get them, then lift it and swap the axles at the same time since your going to have stuff disconnected anyway. then armor. if your not sure about axles, lift it then armor and axles later on.

What size tire do you plan to run? If you have a D35, i would do an axle swap before i lift it.

 

think it really depends what you plan on doing with it, hardcore wheeling or rockclimbing or just a little offroading with mud and such and how much money you have to spend. axles and lockers are pretty much for the hardcore end of it
