What do you guys think about welding the front and rear spider gears for the cheap way out? And if so would you take the carrier out and weld it or do it in the pig?

Thanks

is it just off road use mud snow because you will lose slippage and risk destroying the whole axle if little on road use spool the rear nothing in front

I wouldn't weld the front if you see any pavement or even hard packed dirt roads because you won't be able to steer. On the rear pull the carrier to weld it so you know your welds are good.

don't weld the front, unless it see's no road use.

I like a welded rear. I have done many and would still do it on a vehicle that sees road use. Probably not one that sees hundreds of miles a week though. As for the front axle I do not suggest it. The negative steering wont be worth it. The wheel gettig jerked out of your hand isnt fun.
Take the carrier out when you weld it. Clean it extra good. Cover the bearings and ring gear. Do an extra good job and it will last.

Weld rear! Don't take it out leave it in and weld it?

Don't weld front. You won't be able to turn. It will make its own trails!!! Get a locker or leave it

weld the rear. it will be predictable and wear your tires out faster if it see's road use.

you dont have to take the rear carrier out. Ive welded them still installed. just make sure its extra extra clean you'll be ok. ive welded up lots of demo cars and never had one come apart. crank the welder and burn them in really deep.

If he has a cad front he can get the posi cable kit, weld the front and unlock the cable and only have power to the left front.

I just got a idea. Would this work? Would it still be able to drive on the street( to wheeling grounds) if you welded it and disengaged it with a cable?
