Wanting to upgrade tires...

Hey guys, I've got 5 inches of lift on my 88 XJ and looking to get bigger tires and re-gear. I'm looking to get something like 32's for around $200 a piece. So who's tires should I check out? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks!

Maxxis Bighorns are a step up from anything. They sell them at Les Schwabs for a rediculous price but, you can also find them on ebay for very good prices.

Depending on the kind of wheelin you do makes a big difference in type of tire. and you should have a bunch of choices for that price in that size. I get 35 in mtr's for the wifes jeep for 200 a pop so 32 should be easy to find at that price.

Yeah that's how I found my Jeep, craigslist EVERY day. Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I know quite a bit about this stuff, but now that I'm sixteen and have my own Jeep, I want to make an educated decision with every upgrade. Its really nice to have this forum with people that have lots of experience

You have 5 inches of lift and want 32's? on top of that there is no need to regear with 32's...i run them and have PLENTY of power...if your have a 5" lift and looking to regear, i'd say look more for 35's...if i can fit 32's(33's if i wanted to) on my 3.5" lift than they are way to small for a 5" lift...at least in my opinion.

35's on stock axles with the only upgrade being the gears? Meh. Regear for 32's if you want. All kinds of power and no need to get crazy on shafts, u joints and such. Plus im sure it will flex like a champ

U have a decent point...but regearing for 32's is a waste of money unless u plan on going bigger, and if so why not do it all at once...and personally I think 32's on a 5" lift will look dorky...at least go 33's...more axle clearance and better chance of finding 33's on CL too.

BFG KM2s are a good tire for wheeling and does decent on the highway. They are reasonably priced and have three ply sidewalls so they can take some abuse on the trails.

Is your jeep just for trails or is it the dd also. If a dd them I'd recommend the duratracs. Have heard a lot of good things about them. Only prob is two ply but that's what you get the warranty for. Also depends where you live at and what kinda wheeling you do. Is it more rocks/wet/dry or mud
