Here's a good site with info on how to make a bastard pack. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...udget_Lift.htm Also just google "how to xj bastard pack". Bastard pack is a combination of leaf springs. Also another idea that I've read about is using two xj leafs for the pack. People have said it gives a better ride because the leaves have the same spring rate. If you want the link I can hunt if down in my bookmarks.
Also, not sure if it's been mentioned or if your interested in a budget boost at all but xj v8 coils springs will usually give you 1-1.5 Iift then you can add coil spacers to reach desired height. Then if your lift is usually under 3" you can either keep your track bar or redrill it. Grab some adjustable sway bar links. New shocks. And your good to go. And just pull off the rear sway bar. New shocks.

It can always vary. Sye modifies the angle of your driveshaft to reduce vibes. For that height, a tcd will work it just depends if you care that the tc is lowered. You might want to wait till you get it in and see how it runs. I put 3.5 leafs on and I don't have any severe vibes, and I havent touched the drivetrain yet.

Some JEeps ge vibes at 3.5" some dont. They wont be too bad if you get em so Id put the lift in and see how it does.

The SYE does modify the angle to of the DS but thats not its main purpose. The factory driveshaft "slips" on the transfer case output shaft to allow the DS to change its length to accommodate the suspension flex. This work fine for a small lift. When you add more lift the DS angle becomes greater and there is more downward force on the slip yoke and it doesnt like to slide as well.

The SYE eliminates this slip yoke and puts the slip in the DS itself. This works better because now the extension is along the length of the DS so it doesnt fit itself as it "slips". The SYE DS had a double cardigan joint at the transfer so it allows you to run a much steeper DS angle than the factory shaft. The upper DS is the stock style with the slip joint at the front or transfer case. The lower DS is the SYE shaft and the slip is in the middle where the boot is.

I'm glad I know now! Great explanation.

3" coil spacers($30-50), 2" lift shackels($40-60), shackel relocation($120) (1"of lift) ebay jk shocks $50 for 4 shipped. 3"s of lift for $240-260. Skip spacers and get coils would still be under $300.

Only problem here is most jeeps already have sagging rear springs and need the replaced. And you can get leaf packs for $50 or so from a pick and pull.

surprisingly every jeep getting parted out around here is stock... i found one used lift kit for a really good price and it was gone a day after it was posted. im pretty much set on the bastard pack and lift coils plan. cheap and effective. im 16 so a rougher ride doesnt really matter to me. haha
