I would like to run 35 inch tires but I have a D30 front and D35 rear. Is it possible to run 35's if I upgrade to chromolly shafts and a bigger spline front and rear? Give me some advice fellow jeepers. Also wanna run an ARB air locker in the rear.

Swap in a 8.25 from a 97 up XJ. It has 29 spline shafts. No need for moly shafts. I run 35s on the stock front shafts with no issues. If you run moly shafts you risk the chance of exploding the ring gear.
For peace of mind, get you a spare 8.25 shaft (both sides are equal length) & a pair of front shafts from the junkyard. If you start breaking shafts then look into chromoly replacements.

Not only your opinion matters. I'd like to hear from other people to. Looks like I'm going to do a 8.25 swap. Sorry for the annoyance

get the drive shaft with that 8.25. your d35 drive shaft might be too long, depending on your lift height.

or if you or someone you know is handy with a welder, you can swap in a ford 8.8 from an explorer. stronger and comes with discs.

but the chrysler 8.25 is bolt in ready.

Just do it you have been told several times by different people what you needed and you just ask again. Please listen when asking questions and I like David both run up to 35" tires with a stock 29 spline Chy 8.25 mine with a Detroit locker, the D35 is weak and nor worth putting a ARB into.

I actually have a 8.8. It's a better axle but I figured the OP was a newb due to his questions & it'd be easier just to swap in a 8.25.

Dude..... literally every post you have made or commented on has been about different axle swaps.... With tons of legit answers.
Stop being an askhole and pick a swap already.

35's , you might want to do a gear change to 4.56. if you want to have any get up & go on the street, it will be ok off road in 4 lo, but just ok that is. i run 33's on the street w/ 4.56 & 35's offroad, even w/ 33's on the street it still doesnt hav e the acceleration of a stock xj w/ a 6 cyl.

The correct gear for a 33" tire to bring a 4.0 with an AW4 trans back to stock gearing is a 4.56 gear with 35's a 4.88 but I run both with 4.56's in mine no real issues as the 35's are for off road only.

Gearing is a must when going to that size of a tire, stock doesn't cut it.

Wheeling with 3:55s and big tires I never had a problem. Only time I have issues is on the road.

There is little reason to do that if you already have the 29 spline 8.25. If you will only ever do 35s, the 8.25 is still a better option because its a bolt in swap.
