Is it possible to throw a v8 Cherokee motor in a straight6 jeep or is it more technical than it sounds ? I know people replace em with 350s or Ford engines but I like jeep lol jeep jeep jeep

Umm I think he is talking a V8 out of a Grand Cherokee. I think he means he wants to keep it a Jeep V8 rather than swapping in a Ford or Chevy motor.

Sooo the 360 AMC and the 401 AMC motors were not Jeep? How about the 5.4L Vigilante motor? And yes some of these motors share components with Chrysler engines of the era but are far from the same.

Ok well my "Jeep" specifically says AMC on both the title and on the firewall. Anyways AMC, Jeep is the same thing for that era. I totally understand what you mean though.

lots of people have fit chevey 350s in XJs. and a lot of chevey 5.3 vortecs.
But if it were me i would opt for the cummins 4tb. not as much power as V8s but it has way more torque! and it is easy to get 30mpg out of them in a vehicle like a cherokee. and they have adapter bell housings to fit the ax15 to them

they are only 200 pounds more than our 4.0s! around 680 pounds to be exact. so just about as much as a big block.
the six cylinder cummins are the ones that weigh so much.
