We bought a 98 xj already lifted 6.5". We got new tires, did 1 ton steering and its making ridiculous clunking nosies from hitting bumps or pot holes. Upon further inspection we found a lot of play in the upper control arm bushing, passenger side, not on the pumpkin. We found the Rusty's replacement mount for $75/pair but don't really now how we feel about havig to weld up the new mount. We already replaced the bushing with a stock replacement in the factory mount and its very sloppy. It is also beginning to bend the mount and cause the upper control arm to pinch together. Is there a bulkier replacement bushing set or is replacing the mount the best way to go? Opinions wanted and possible pics if anyone has done that Rusty's kit or alternative. Thanks in advance!

I assume you still have short arms if you are using the factory mounts? To give you my honest opinion, If you are at 6.5" already, get a long arm kit. I know its a little bit more$$ but it will perform ride much better for you and usually come with a good joint. Being that high with stock arms is rough on those bushings- you just pound it repeatedly at the wrong angle.

If that is not an option for ya, certainly get some HD mounts if yours are bending.

We do have long arms, although they are homemade clayton style. Where can we get these hd bushings??
