Default Upgrading from Vacuum Disco to one piece axle

So I've finally decided to bite the bullet. I'm going to go with a one piece axle on the passenger side of my original vacuum disco DANA 30.So far I've acquired a matching set of axle shafts(driver and passenger) from a 98 TJ.

I was wondering about the seal that gets installed on the passenger side of the carrier. Anyone have a part number? I was under the impression that I'd need the same 710068 as the other side of the carrier, but I'm getting conflicting info from different websites. One website talks about a special WARN seal, one website speaks of a kit from Randys...I'm confused...

Can anyone clarify without a doubt which is the proper seal part number.I can just as easily get the $18 Rustys kit, which inckudes the seal and block off kit, but I am not gonna pay the $18 shipping they wanna charge me. Ill make my own block off plate.

What's the minimum and optimal thickness needed for material for the block off plate?

There are two poss seals that most include in the block off kit. BUT there is also a 3rd very uncommon but possible seal that could also be the right one. You have to either guess, pick and hope. Or get the kit, or take it apart and measure then order.

In any case I HIGHLY recommend you get 2 of the right seal for the pass and install then both! one right after the next. You will see why when you get your hands on one. They are only about 3/16" thick and push out easy. Also, if you wanted to do it Right. Clean the tube Very well, emery cloth it. then get some sleeve lock and coat the tube where the seals are going and then install them. Let it dry 24hr before installing the axle.

As for part numbers. I feel time is money and making a plate is not worth my time, when they come with all three seals for 40-50$. So not to sure on teh exact two options for the pass side.

But the 3rd less likely one is AXT-473426.

Why not just lock the axle collar in place? I did on my '91, 4x4 works fine and hasn't exploded even when I accidentally drove a little bit in 4x4 on dry pavement (dumb dumb dumb!)

Edit: Added benefit of cost... just a little black rtv for the housing cover and the couple ounces of gear oil you lose.

I've got the fork locked in place currently. The seal for the vaccum disco leaks and I've heard its a PITA to replace. I also have an Aussie locker I plan on installing so the carrier has to come out anyway...perfect time to install the seal at the carrier and install the one piece axle which runs the larger u joints...

Napa part 11800 is what you need. No other part number is correct, no other will work.

No stores other than Napa will be able to get this seal either. Napa and Napa only. I went down this road until I found the truth. Now I pass it on to you.

Pay it foward.

You are wrong and why there are so many questions about this out there.

Dana changed the tube ID a few times.

How many have you installed? 1 maybe 5? I have dont this conversion about 5-10 times per year for years.

there are 3 poss seals that will fit the pass side axle tube, inside the diff.

The number (Yukon and I think National) that you might need are:
471354
471763
473426 - this is the uncommon but still poss seal that no one includes in their block off kits.
