Why are you replacing the 29 spline Chrysler 8.25 with a Dana 44? They are almost the same as far as strength. If your only running 32x11.50r15s you shouldn't be having problems with the Dana 30.

^^^ This.

Unless you are planning on going over 35" tires, or dropping in a V8, you shouldn't need anything bigger than the D30. Put some chromo shafts and a truss on it if you still need some reassurance.

If you are planning on going to 37's or something, most guys do a Waggy D44 front, or a D60. But those are going to cost you some big bucks or a lot of fab work to put in.

I am planning on running 35's, 4.56 and ARB Air lockers front/rear.

I decided to keep my d30 and just put 30 spline shafts and an ARB in it. I haven't put it to the test yet, but I had a similar setup in a previous Jeep and it held up to everything I put it through. But if you're agressive with the throttle and afraid to break, a d44 or a d60 might be the way to go, if you have deep pockets.

OK, so why change the Chrysler 8.25 for a Dana 44? The 29 spline 8.25 will handle 35s easily with 1541H shafts. The Dana 30 with 30 spline Chrome molly shafts and a truss will handle 35s. The Cherokee is light and doesn't have a high torque high horsepower engine, so it is fairly easy on axles compared to heavier rigs with more power.

I just ordered my axle upgrades for the Cherokee. 4.88 R & P, master install kits.

29 spline Chrysler 8.25 1541H shafts, u-bolt style differential yolk, and a Detroit locker for the rear.

For the front Dana 30 a set of Nitro 4340 Chrome Molly 30 spline shafts with 760 u-joints, axle tube seals, u-bolt style differential yolk, Truss, and an Eaton E-Locker.

I will be running 34-36 inch tires, these upgrades will enable my Cherokee to tackle any trail.

4.88 gears, and the Detroit locker is a full carrier locker so is the Eaton E-Locker so no new carrier is needed.
