Does anyone currently use the ultraguage in their XJ? http://ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/index.htm

I was wondering what information is actually displayed on the Jeep and if any of them are actually useful. Besides being able to use it as a code reader which isn't worth the 60 dollars since I can get a reader for less than 20 on ebay, what guages do you find helpful?

The website says that for a 99 Cherokee I would have access to the following information on the display but then has a disclaimer that not all are available.

Open/Closed Loop Emissions Status
Percent Engine Load
Engine coolant temperature (°F)
Short Term Fuel Trim Bank 1
Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 1
Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) PSI
RPM

Ignition Timing Advance
Intake Air Temperature (°F)

Volumetric Efficiency

Mass Air Flow 2, Calibrated/Calculated

Intantaneous Gallons/Hour (GPH)

That's interesting. I have a cheapo Bluetooth adapter for my '98 and pair it with my Android phone running Torque Pro app--about 25 bucks total. I cannot get realtime MPG's with it, although I should be able to since the jeeps with overhead consoles displayed this info.

Does yours read and clear diagnostic codes? That is the main thing that I want it for but I'm curious to know if others find they use it for anything else?

Yes, mine will read and diagnose codes fine. I can also view live data from O2 sensors, current vacuum, RPM's, and coolant temp and some other stuff. I think it might just be limitations of the app.

No never had even heard of them before.

But........after going to the web site and reading about them I just ordered one looks like a handy thing to have around for several of my older cars and XJ's of mine and my son's.

Thanks for posting the link!

Is there a way to also tell if your O2 sensors are not reading properly? What does the data output tell you for O2 sensors?

Both work. I prefer the UltraGauge. Easier to read the screen, less fatiguing at night, better OS, more reliable (I've had two ScanGauges fail...No issues with the UltraGauge), easier to use (logical). $61 and excellent mounting options. The gauge alarms never fail to warn you. Just my 2. http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/

Yes, in fact I've started another thread on this topic, complete with screenshots. There are tests built into the ECU that you can run with this app, and I have one that's related to the upstream O2 sensor that is failing. I just haven't had a chance to replace the sensor yet.

Would you recommend this? Simple to use?

I definitely recommend the UltraGauge. Very simple to use and worth every penny. They've really tweaked the software and made it so easy to use. $60.95 after $9 mail in reward. Shipping and mounts are reasonable as well. Here's a short video review that shows how clear the screen is and the various options:

Does anybody know if the ultra gauge will work on a 96 4.0L? The site says yes but also says thats not a guarantee?
