Hey guys haven't posted anything in a long time. I'm starting this thread as a day dream and comment thread. So here it goes!

My dream:
I want to build the ultimate xj for camping and expedition/trail wheeling. What I want is a 93-01 xj (just want r-134a a/c) with power windows and locks and one I good clean condition for the base of this project. I also want to build an mj Comanche bed trailer for camping. Here is a rundown of both and what I wish to put on them

Main rig xj:
6.5" lift
33" tires
CLEAN WORKING INTERIOR
aw4 auto
4.6 stroker
Twin stick and clocked dana 300 t-case
Tj dana 44 front
Dana 44 rear
Both axles will have 4:10s, chromoly shafts, and ARB lockers
4 doors
And cargo area converted to tool storage air tank storage etc.
10k lbs warn synth rope winch permanently mounted on front custom bumper
10k lbs warn synth rope winch on hitch bucket for rear

Mj trailer:
Matching lift/tires/paint to the xj
Shell/topper color matched
Dual batteries with a tendor for running lights, heater, etc
Small 2k watt generator to power misc and battery tendor
10-15 gallon fresh water tank for shower use and misc
Use the factory mj tank as a reserve tank for jeep, generator, dirt bikes , etc
Trailer tounge box to hold batteries, tools, jeep parts, etc
Comfortable sleeping arrangements inside the bed

Basically this is gonna be a set up that I can take out to the middle of nowhere and camp for 2-3 days and have a fun weekend. The trailer won't go over any CRAZY terrain but will hit some mild trails and parked then the xj will be the trail rig. The xj will be doing some mild mudding, somewhat serious trails, and some very mild rock crawling.

We'll tell me what you guys think and let me know if you have and bad a ideas that would come in handy. Thanks guys!

If youre shooting for 2-3 days, you're shooting a bit high on the build list lol that list will let you stay out for 1-2 Weeks lol mines something similar but since in sticking with 33"-34" I'm just polishing my 30 and trussing my 8.25, but why 6.5? To damn high for 33" mine at highest will be 4.5"

I agree, that is a LOT of **** for a couple days lol... I dont think I'd even have even have time to use all that.

That's a lot of lift for some 33s. Also why only 4.10 gears why not something deeper like 4.88. Since you plan on having a trailer and recovery on your xj. Also why a tj dana 44 on the front? If you plan on putting that much into the axles why not just do full width.

Your plan seems pretty decent, However 6.5" is too tall for 33's unless your not wanting to trim the fenders. I really like how stable my XJ is with 3.5" of lift and 33's I feel much safer in my XJ then I do in my neighbors with a 5.5" and 35's especially when off camber !

As for gearing for 33's you'll want 4:56's especially since your going to be towing a trailer. The 29 spline 8.25 is a pretty strong rear axle they hold up to 35's in stock form . Add a truss and chromoly shafts to it that will save you some $ the TJ D44 is a LP axle and its basically a D30 with a 44 housing you would be better off spending more money and getting a g2/currie/dynatrac D44 for the front.

Buy a cheap RV and tow the XJ on a trailer. Ultimate camping XJ.

2-3 days is short - I've survived longer with just stuff on my back. You wouldn't even need a change of clothes. Go for a few weeks at a time. Screw day jobs.

That would be one BA XJ though.

Out of curiosity why 93' and up? What changes that year, sounds like a sweet build tho man i love camping rigs

Skip the tj dana 44 its a mutt,Its basicly a dana 30 with a dana 44 center in it.You can build up your dana 30 or use a jeep wagoneer 1980 and newer dana 44.Which rear dana 44 you going to use?

if money was no object (as it seems wouldn't be with all you listed) I don't think I'd even consider an XJ

You should concider a solar panel and batteries for the "ultimate" fuel will run out. From the way I read it this is more of a bug out rig. Plus a solar panel weighs way less than gas. Which will increase your effective range of distance.
If interested you can find em on CL pretty reasonable prices for used stuff

Depends on a persons terrain. I won't ever go full width. I have taken people with full width rigs on some rides. They all say there is no way their jeep would fit and go the same places.

^This a few rigs I wheel with run full width they admit they wish they kept the stock track width so they dont get harassed about tire coverage
