Back on topic.

For Axle U-Joints - Spicer are the best off the shelf under 100$ ea joints.
For Driveshaft U-Joints - Neapco are the best.

They are ALL Universal Joints. How you get wheel joints for a Axle Universal Joint is beyond me, but the guys at Autozone prolly know more then I LOL..

If you're going to rail on someone and cuss them out, check YOUR facts first. First off, U-joint stands for universal joint. If you want to get really particular they are (single) cardan universal joints. Double cardan universal joints would be what you have on the top end of the front drive shaft with two single u-joints mounted together so the rotational velocity of of the input and output shafts are both constant. The same u-joint parts are used for drive shafts and axle shafts, they are not a different TYPE of part. If you try to fix your wheel joints in the OEM service manual you will be SOL. You will find them under the heading of "Axle Shaft--Cardan U-Joint" If you want to get particular with names you'll also find that "drive" shafts are called "propeller" shafts in just about any type of automotive related industry, including in the Jeep OEM service manual. U-joints are u-joints, stating where they are used is additional information, for instance: axle u-joints, or drive shaft u-joints.

Now that I got that out of the way, to the OP, Spicer u-joints are about the best quality you can get without upgrading the size.

I never said the U Joints were different, I was simply pointing out that he was not talking about the wheel joints. Every time I have replaced mine they have been labeled wheel joints for ease of reference.

I don't think that's correct- if you called them that prior to this thread I would've thought you were talking about ball joints. In fact, if you google "Wheel joints," that's what the first few results show. Wheel universal joint may more accurately refer to the part you're talking about, but then why not just call them axle shaft u-joints? You have front and rear driveshaft u-joints and driver or passenger axle shaft u-joints. There's even a steering wheel u-joint!

Buuut anyway. Sealed or greaseable?

Greasable if your u-joints are going to be submerged in water/mud and you are actually willing to service them on a regular basis, there's only so much contamination a sealed joint can keep out. If you are too old/fat to be crawling under your Jeep, throw in sealed and forget about it, replace as necessary.

What is all this "wheel joint" talk. Technically a ball joint could fall under the wheel category as well, should we start calling ball joints "wheel joints"?

Axle U-Joint
Driveshaft U-Joint

tomatoe / tomato
wheel joint/ u-joint/ axle joint/ outer joint/

spicers and be done with it. They have a great tool on thier website. You input your vehicle specs, and it tells you EXACTLY what joint you need and where it goes, and sell box em all up and mail em to ya.
