Triple electric fans
I see a lot of people going dual stock electric fans after the mechanical fan has been removed. I've always liked this idea, it's a fan you know fits in the existing system. but I see some hot summers. and even more so, I have the **** closed system that the renix came with, so temps get pretty high when just sitting around. usually with the stock fan setup, with both fans running all the time, i ran at about 210. and i know my thermostat and water pump are good.
So here's my solution, triple stock electric fans. I think if I trimmed a bit off of the stock cowl on the sided of the fan, i should be able to fit 3 of those little buggers in there. then, so each fan works efficiently I would add an aluminum partition between the fans so it doesn't suck air from across the radiator or through the other fans when off.
what do you guys think? could this work? I'm headed to the junkyard Friday, so i suppose i'll know on Saturday if this will work. but the way I see it, it's a much cheaper version of the triple threat fan layout.

that's pretty close to what i wanted. that setup is from dirtbound offroad right?
Edit, never mind, dirtbound has the fans external from the cowl. still, your setup looks good.

Whatever you do avoid buying dirtboud's set up! I ordered it and it arrived way later than promised and the quality of the set up was poor to say the least. Nothing fit as it was advertised his fan controller didn't even fit in the upper heater hose that I was instructed to plumb it into. After all the frustration the fan is getting sent back and I am taking another route to provide my XJ with extra cooling potential. I know you said you were making your own set up but I just wanted to say that you have the right I dead because I can guarantee that what ever you come up with will be of a much higher quality of workmanship than what you will get from dirtbound!
wow, that's the first bad thing I've heard about dirtbound. I wasn't willing to pay his price for some folded steel anyway. if I was going to co completely custom cowl I'd have my machinist do it or I'd take to fiberglass. thanks for the input though. I was thinking about a couple of his products but this is making me reconsider.
