Some specifics on the vehicle would be extremely helpful. Like what year it is, motor size....
Chances are, if youre looking for an "o/d cancel" or a "tow/haul" switch, youre going to be looking for a long time. Just put the gearshift in "3"

You could try adjusting the tv cable, but you probably have a trans thats going out on you. I would avoid trying to change the fluid. If you have a clutch pack thats burnt up, the detergents in the new fluid will clean off what little clutch material you have left.

There are (3) solenoids in the bottom of the trans, and they are accessible by pulling the pan. S1 and S2 are shift solenoids and depending on which are on/off determines which gear you are in. There is a lockup solenoid S3 which locks the torque converter.
When in D the trans should shift 1-2-3-4-lockup via the trans control module which gets its input from the throttle position sensor, vehicle speed sensor, neutral safety switch, and brake pedal switch. The change from 4th to 4th and lockup is more noticeable in my '96 than shifting from 3-4. At an indicated 70mph I'm turning an indicated 2250 rpm in 4th locked up. At low throttle openings I can feel and see the shifts 1-2 at 20mph, 2-3 at 30mph, 3-4 at 40mph and lockup at 45mph.
There is a kickdown cable attached to the throttle linkage and it sometimes needs adjusting.
The trans control unit that sends voltage to the solenoids is under the glove box behind the lower dash trim.

Alright dude listen I just got done without same exact problem make sure that all fuse spots on the inside fuse compartment are there if there's and empty spot but a low amp fuse in it and take it for a ride and see if it fixes it cause I was tryen alot of stuff and spent like 180 tryen to figure it out and it turned out to be something I already had try it and let me know what happens man
Thx alot excess650 and 98cherokeeguy for your time really apreciate it. That problem was occuring on my friend's cherokee so imma tell him to try that... And if you guys dont' mind lol ill introduce you to my problem... On my 6L 4litter cherokee 2000 i have a misfire on cyl 1... Heres what i tryed so far: change spark plugs, change the coil pack ignition look at the vaccums and thats pretty much it... Any suggestion?
Check all injector wires or try swapping the injector to see if it's bad and tell him to try cleaning his NSS neutral safety switch
